Rap music has had lots of references to smoking marijuana. Listeners of rap music are more likely to think smoking is cool. Smoking brings air of over 700 degrees into your lungs. Your burning your lungs and causing damage as if smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes may have other additives but smoke is smoke.
Rappers are harming the youth. I believe that it’s safe to assume that the majority of African Americans listen to rap. We here in Columbus have a rap station and it seems that if the rapper is African American that then the listeners also choose to be African American. Not all African Americans listen to rap and other ethnicities listen to rap as well.
Country music does the same thing with their references to drinking and having sex. Monkey hear monkey do. Monkey hear monkey repeat. We aren’t monkeys but you understand. We are all reliable for what we say and do to others. What we say in rap music is that we smoke weed. Others listening then want to be cool or think it’s okay to smoke weed since others are.
