I designed an idea where we could all be monitored for how good or bad our purchases or actions and behaviors are. It could be as easy as only our purchases. The more complex design would monitor our texting, messaging, calls, web activity, physical body movements and what you say to others in public. These actions can be given point scores for how bad or good you are. Like say you decided to be mean to someone on the internet, the system saw that and gave you minus 1 or 3 points.
Since some actions could be disputed upon, like how you may have chosen to be a jerk cutting off someone else’s walk where someone could claim they are autistic and were in a rush. So because of that, we can make it only about our purchases, free or paid and their points connected to them. These points can be separated into how much labor you cost humans, how much pollution your purchase is connected to and how ethical your purchase is.
LABOR
Giving a number to how much labor you cost the world would help humanity by making everyone more conscious about how much they make other people work. With people watching they labor scores we can see that humans may naturally improve their society by demanding less and less labor from the entire whole. Everything you buy has a certain amount of labor connected to it from start to finish. Even the energy used to power the factory is connected to a certain amount of human labor. These points can be raw number of hours you cost humanity for that purchase. Tv shows and books are easily multiplied so the points connected to that book goes down for you personally the more people that buy and read that book.
POLLUTION
Each purchase you make is given estimated pollution numbers. There could be fumes connected to what your buying, or there’s global micro-plastic pollution from your car tires. These points connected to your pollution number aren’t as completely calculable compared to human labor so we just have to create rough numbers giving a value system we can understand. Like a tire is given the points score of 5 where you then have a fruit like an apple with the points score of 0 and a gallon of gas with a points score of 1. We can learn to see the values based on the points given between other scores.
ETHICS
With ethical points I am am going towards if your purchase causes harm to you, another person, an animal or a plant. Farming and killing animals is harmful to the animals and it’s probably seen as evil to some. We wouldn’t want it to be us on farms so therefore its unethical. Violent games, TV and movies would also have points added to them since the unethical side of the entertainment is that others are likely to harm others after being able to watch and hear about violence. Smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol is also unethical since it harms your body. People who drink and smoke are also more likely to need to go to the doctor, adding labor points for their doctor visits or surgery. Owning a pet is also unethical since you are imprisoning another living being. Your pet also costs you in food which has another labor and pollution score added to it. Your pet may also bite someone where that person then has to take up societies labor doing to the doctor. You are then responsible for the points they spent at the doctors.
Going to prison is also given a larger ethics score for how you broke a law and possibly caused pain onto another. Drug use can also be legal within this system where the drugs have much larger ethics scores similar to what petty crimes may be.
WHAT’S THE POINT?
My main idea with the points is to make us think about our actions and choices. We may or may not choose to improve ourselves. My idea was that we have retirement homes that we created after merging into one communist monopoly. Each year there’s a certain number of people eligible to go into the retirement home. We could have 100 different retirement homes where each percentage of scores within that retirement class gets sent to a different retirement home. Like there’s scores within 0-500 as the highest scores, 501-3000 as the next percentage, 3001-3500 as the next one and so on.
The ranges are different each retirement age but the retirement class is evenly divided into 100 different retirement homes. Those you retire with would have similar scores to you and you have similarities in that and could more easily get along. With communism we could make sure that there are no other retirement options besides staying at your own home or going into a retirement home. Retirement homes would be free for everyone across the globe.
There could be other uses to these points like special trips or something unique for those who did really well. Points can be all positive, like you don’t go negative since you usually buy or do watch something. Points can go down for volunteering when we really need you. I think it may be that we don’t allow for points to go away with good behavior since the scores are more accurate and truthful. I don’t know why I mentioned it, maybe someone else wants to think about it that way.
With these points we could have all that we currently have without trying to add laws to try to make humans do better. Like we made drugs legal but your likely to retire with those who used or committed crimes. You would be with like minded people in that way. If the race improves, then we still are divided into 100 different groups, meaning theres still a lower and higher end. If the race unimproves, then again your still divided into 100 different groups. The number of groups could be like 20 but i chose 100 so that we are much more closely around those with more similar scores.
This idea goes against what some communists stand for but we can try to put a vote to it or try to test it out somewhere.
POINTS EXAMPLE
Pollution score + labor score + energy score(energies sources pollution and labor score) ethical score = life score points
A smartphone
(Pollution score) Individual parts produce x amount of air pollution due to fumes + recyclability rating
Rough score of 7
(Labor score) Each phone needs x amount of laborers to put the phone together + x amount of labor for the raw materials
Rough score of 3
(Energy score) Each phone demands x amount of kwh, each kwh is rated at the score behind where the energy is sources + how many laborers are needed behind repair and maintenance of the energy + labor behind fuel unless it’s natural resources
Rough score 2
(Ethical score) How good or bad the purchase is for you or society. Are living being being harmed?
Rough score possibly 0
This smartphone example puts 12 points on your life score
